Rather than collecting personal identifiers, we focus on the quality, consistency, and credibility of the data itself.

This approach allows us to respect respondent privacy while applying rigorous controls to protect data authenticity. By concentrating on how responses behave within the survey—rather than who the respondent claims to be—we reduce bias, avoid unnecessary personal data collection, and improve overall data quality.

Attention Checks: Detecting Bots and Careless Responses

Attention checks are built into our surveys to identify respondents who are not fully engaged. These checks typically involve simple instructions or control questions that require a specific response to confirm that the participant is reading and understanding the survey content.

Respondents who fail attention checks may be clicking randomly, rushing through the survey, or using automated scripts. By removing these responses, we ensure that the final dataset reflects thoughtful, human input rather than noise generated by bots or low-effort participation.

For example, if a respondent provides mutually exclusive answers or reverses a core position without justification, the response may indicate inattention, misunderstanding, or careless completion. Applying consistency checks allows us to filter out unreliable data while preserving high-quality, coherent responses.

This process strengthens the internal validity of our surveys and ensures that observed patterns reflect real attitudes and behaviors rather than random or inconsistent answering.

Speed Checks: Filtering Out Unrealistically Fast Completions

Speed checks are used to identify respondents who complete surveys too quickly to have read and considered the questions properly. Both bots and low-effort human respondents tend to complete surveys at unrealistically high speeds.

RankingsLatAm applies clear, predefined rules and protocols to address this issue. For example, respondents who complete the survey in less than 15% of the median completion time may be removed from the final dataset. These thresholds are applied consistently and conservatively to avoid excluding genuine fast readers while filtering out implausible completions.

By combining speed checks with attention and consistency checks, RankingsLatAm ensures that its data reflects deliberate, informed responses and meets the highest standards of professional market research.

Multi-Layer Respondent Screening

All RankingsLatAm surveys apply a multi-layer screening process to ensure a high-quality and reliable sample. Respondents are filtered using eligibility criteria, attention checks, and consistency controls before their answers are accepted into the final dataset. This process ensures that only respondents who meet the target profile and demonstrate adequate engagement are included.

Eligibility filters confirm that respondents belong to the intended population for each survey, such as country of residence, age group, or relevant usage characteristics. Attention and consistency filters are then applied to validate that respondents are actively engaged and provide coherent answers throughout the questionnaire.

By combining these layers, RankingsLatAm minimizes noise, reduces bias, and strengthens the statistical reliability of its results, producing datasets suitable for professional analysis, benchmarking, and decision-making.

Timestamps and Browser Statistics as Quality Signals

Response timestamps and browser statistics are two types of metadata collected automatically when a respondent completes our online surveys. These indicators provide technical and behavioral signals that help us assess the authenticity and quality of responses. Importantly, they do not contain personal or identifiable information.

Timestamps allow us to measure how long respondents take to complete each section of the survey, enabling the detection of implausibly fast or irregular completion patterns. Browser statistics, such as device type, operating system, and browser version, help identify abnormal response behaviors that may indicate automation or low-quality participation.

These metadata are used exclusively for data quality validation. They serve as objective signals to confirm that responses are real, human, and consistent with normal survey-taking behavior, without compromising respondent privacy.

Device Hashing and Long-Term Panel Consistency

To prevent duplicate responses and ensure long-term data integrity, RankingsLatAm uses tools that generate a unique device hash for each respondent. This hash is a technical fingerprint derived from non-personal device attributes and is used to block multiple submissions from the same device and detect potential multi-account behavior.

This process does not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, or any other personal data. Instead, each respondent develops an internal, anonymous “passport” that contains only non-sensitive, technical identifiers and quality indicators. The passport cannot be used to identify an individual outside the survey environment.

Over time, respondents who participate in multiple surveys and demonstrate consistent, high-quality answering behavior are internally validated and “certified” as reliable panelists. This consistency across surveys and time enhances the overall robustness of RankingsLatAm data and reinforces trust in the insights derived from our research.
