Credit Card outstanding receivables (G$) - Top 10 issuers performance summary
With a total market of close to 4 million cards (considering both credit and debit), the evolution of the credit card portfolio volume in Paraguay shows a year-on-year growth of 17% at the end of the third quarter of 2022.
The use of the 1.3 million active credit cards maintains a good performance in most of the surveyed issuers, thanks in part to the expansion of the acquiring network that has occurred since the last quarter of last year.
On the other hand, the volume of purchases made with credit cards shows an year-on-year growth measured in G$ of almost 20%. Although the amount of credit card purchases continues to be higher than debit purchases in the local market, debit continues its sustained growth and already represents 87% of the volume of credit purchases (in 2018, the first year in in which we carried out this survey, this ratio was only 59%).
