Retail Banking in Brazil - 2023.12 Rankings


 
   
At the close of December 2023, the Brazilian retail banking market reached a total of 273.2 million active clients. This represented a quarterly increase of 1.4% and an annual growth of 6.1%.
 
Among the leading competitors in terms of market share based on the number of customers, NUBANK held a dominant position with 19.1% of the market. Following NUBANK, ITAU secured 11.7%, and BRADESCO captured 9.0% of the market share. The other companies rounding out the top ten in market share were CAIXA ECONÔMICA FEDERAL, SANTANDER, BB, C6 BANK, BTG PACTUAL,  BANCO CSF and BMG. Collectively, these ten competitors accounted for 69.9% of the market.
 
Focusing on the competitors with the most significant growth in market share, NUBANK again led with a gain of 1.61 market share points. MERCADOPAGO saw an increase of 0.21 points, WILL BANK and FACTA FINANCEIRA each grew by 0.15 points, and BANCO ORIGINAL increased by 0.12 points.

In terms of credit operations, NUBANK also exhibited the most substantial growth, gaining 0.88 market share points. INTER and BANCO ORIGINAL both increased their market share by 0.24 points, while NEON and MERCANTIL DO BRASIL saw growths of 0.20 and 0.18 points, respectively.
