The Peruvian market closed Q4 2023 with a total of 8.4 million credit cards and almost 44 million debit cards. Banking entities held 6.4 million credit cards, while financial institutions and other non-banking entities accounted for the remaining 2 million. Regarding debit cards, banks had 34.9 million, while financial institutions and savings banks had a total of 9 million issued.
The average delinquency level in the credit card portfolio at the end of December was 6.3%, representing an increase compared to the 4.2% level the banking market showed at the end of the previous year.
BANCO FALABELLA PERU held the first position in the number of credit cards with 16.2%, followed by BCP with 16%, and FINANCIERA OH! with 14.1%.
The market share growth ranking placed BCP in the first position with an advance of +0.78 points, followed by BBVA and RIPLEY BANK, both with advances of +0.4 points. FINANCIAL OH! and BANCO PICHINCHA completed the top five leaders in this ratio with growth of +0.19 and +0.11, respectively.
