Ecuador’s insurance market reached USD 1.261 billion in premiums at June 2026, compared with USD 1.190 billion in the same period of 2025, representing nominal year-on-year growth of 6.0%. The market encompasses both life and non-life insurance business and continues to show moderate expansion within a competitive regional environment.

Competition remains relatively concentrated despite the presence of 27 insurance companies in the market. EQUISUIZA SEGUROS S.A. ranked first with a 13.6% market share, followed by PICHINCHA with 12.0% and CHUBB SEGUROS ECUADOR S.A. with 10.3%. Together, these three insurers accounted for 35.8% of total market premiums.
The remainder of the leading group was composed of LATINA SEGUROS C.A., HISPANA DE SEGUROS Y REASEGUROS S.A., ZURICH SEGUROS ECUADOR S.A., ASEGURADORA DEL SUR, SWEADEN COMPAÑIA DE SEGUROS S.A., AIG METROPOLITANA and UNIDOS. Their presence among the country’s largest insurers reflects a market structure in which several established companies compete alongside the three largest players.
With premiums advancing 6.0% year on year to June 2026, Ecuador’s insurance industry maintained positive nominal growth while operating across a 27-company competitive landscape. The June 2026 rankings provide a snapshot of the sector’s scale and competitive positioning, with EQUISUIZA SEGUROS S.A. holding the leading position and the top three insurers collectively representing more than one-third of market premiums.
