The market expanded 6.8% year-on-year, supported primarily by strong growth in Non-Life and Life segments. Life insurance grew by 8.9%, and Non-Life policies increased by 9.8%, highlighting the ongoing demand for risk protection among individuals and businesses. Accident and Health coverages—often tied to employer benefits or private medical plans—saw a more moderate increase of 2.3%, while the Surety (Fianzas) segment registered a slight contraction of 0.8%, suggesting more caution or reduced investment activity in sectors demanding guarantee bonds.

Despite the mixed performance across segments, the market’s overall health appears strong. The combined cost of acquisition and claims amounted to 37.5% of premiums—relatively efficient by regional standards—while the gross operating profit from insurance activity was 14.0%. After factoring in all expenses and income, insurers achieved a net profit margin of 9.9%, reflecting prudent management, adequate underwriting, and favorable investment returns.

In terms of competitive dynamics, some insurers have clearly outpaced others in expanding their footprint.
