The bank with the highest growth of its market share in the volume of authorized transactions with debit cards in the last quarter was BANAMEX, with an increase of 0.80%. The leader was followed by BANCOPPEL, which grew its market share by 0.65%, and BANCO AZTECA, which achieved a growth of 0.52%. The fourth and fifth places were occupied by BANREGIO and INBURSA, with increases of 0.06% and 0.04%, respectively. 
  
The first quarter of 2023 showed some interesting trends in the use of credit and debit cards for online shopping in Mexico. The total amount of purchase requests with credit cards was 142.163 million pesos, of which 92.329 million pesos were authorized, representing an authorization rate of 65%. The amount of chargebacks, which are claims made by cardholders to reverse a transaction, was 508 million pesos, equivalent to 0.6% of the authorized purchases.

In terms of the number of transactions, there were 99.731.192 purchase requests with credit cards, of which 69.556.583 were authorized, resulting in a 70% authorization rate. The number of chargebacks was 469.608, or 0.7% of the authorized transactions. The average amount per purchase request was 1.425 pesos, while the average amount per authorized purchase was 1.327 pesos. The average amount per chargeback was 1.082 pesos.

On the other hand, the total amount of purchase requests with debit cards was 138.273 million pesos, of which 87.901 million pesos were authorized, corresponding to a 64% authorization rate. The amount of chargebacks was 336 million pesos, or 0.4% of the authorized purchases.

The number of transactions with debit cards was much higher than with credit cards, reaching 247.258.179 purchase requests, of which 160.363.341 were authorized, with a 65% authorization rate. The number of chargebacks was also higher, totaling 723.975, or 0.5% of the authorized transactions. The average amount per purchase request with debit cards was much lower than with credit cards, being 559 pesos, while the average amount per authorized purchase was 548 pesos. The average amount per chargeback was also lower, being 464 pesos.
