Consumer Finance in Brazil - 2024.03 Rankings


At the end of the first quarter of 2024, the consumer banking market in Brazil presented significant changes and trends in various loan categories. Analyzing the evolution of the business by type of loan, we can observe distinct variations in different segments.
 
 
In terms of market share in the total retail consumer portfolio, CAIXA ECONÔMICA FEDERAL emerged as the leader with a 24.4% share. It was followed by Banco do Brasil (BB) with 16.9% and ITAU with 13.3%. When looking at the competitors with the highest market share growth in total consumer loans, NUBANK led with a gain of 0.69 percentage points. CAIXA ECONÔMICA FEDERAL followed with a 0.47 percentage point increase. WILL, AGIBANK, and INTER also saw gains of 0.17%, 0.15%, and 0.10% respectively.

Specific loan categories had their own leaders. In payroll-deductible loans, BB, CAIXA ECONÔMICA FEDERAL, and BRADESCO were at the forefront. For personal loans, BB, BRADESCO, and ITAU led the market. The vehicle loans segment was dominated by SANTANDER, VOTORANTIM, and ITAU. In the credit card loan sector, ITAU, NUBANK, and BRADESCO were the top players. The agricultural retail loan segment was led by BB, CAIXA ECONÔMICA FEDERAL, and BANCO COOPERATIVO SICREDI S.A.
